A.C. Milan History: early years

The team was founded on December 16, 1899 by Alfred Edwards and Herbert Kilpin (of Nottingham, England) as a cricket of Milan and club of football. Edwards, a former British vice-consul in Milan and the well-known personality of the Milanese high company, were the president initially elected of the club. At the beginning the team included a section of cricket, controlled by Edouard Berra, and a section of football controlled by David Allison.

The selected official colors were red and black. Immediately the team gained the notability adapted under the guide of Herbert Kilpin. The first trophy to be gained was Medaglia LED Re (Medal of the King) in January 1900, and equips it later gained three national leagues, in 1901, 1906 and 1907. The triumph of 1901 was particularly suitable because it finished the consecutive series of victories of Genoa, which had been the only team to have gained before 1901.

In 1908, surplus of questions that the signature of the foreign players led to a slit faction of “progressive” of the team, which formed F.C. Internazionale Milano.

In 1916, A.C. Milan gained the federal cup, a national trophy which had replaced the Italian league, suspended because of the First World War. This cup was never identified like Italian title.

In 1919, the team changed her name into club of the football of Milan. After their first triumphs, Milan could not continue their old success on raised level, obtaining only one certain number of placements of half-table, even if if always playing in higher Italian division.

In 1938 the fascist that the mode imposed new a italianized the name, Associazione Calcio Milano, for the team. However, this name was just abandoned after the Second World War, but to maintain the part initial: the team was called Associazione Calcio Milan, which is the official name running.
